"At the Windsor Arms, historic and new-millennium amenities are fused together to create a delicate balance of old-world charm and modern decadence. In fact, the building dates back to 1927 when the University of Toronto, with its neo-Gothic buildings and distinctive piers, porches, and crests were architectural marvels of the burgeoning metropolis. And that's exactly how hotelier, William Arthur Price, envisioned the four-storey building way back in the 30s. The original idea was to create a hotel residence to blend in with the university's signature, Victorian buildings. When completed, guests and passersby wondered whether Price had stamped the outside crest with his initials or that of the hotel. The question still remains to this day. "

"The criteria for becoming a member of the Relais & Châteaux are stringent. Following an invitation to apply, a candidate property forwards its official dossier to the group�s head office in Paris. If the application meets a set of formal conditions, suitability is evaluated during an initial property inspection. The Inn itself is a designated heritage building. Built of local buff brick, it is a fine example of early Ontario architecture. "The Club originated in 1876. At first, there was no Clubhouse so Members frequently took picnic-baskets with them and had their lunch under the trees. In the early eighteen-nineties, the Club obtained the use of two rooms in a house nearby the course but it was not until 1894 that the members had a Clubhouse of their own... a deserted mansion on the Fernhill property, locally know as the 'haunted house'. The mansion was rebuilt and remodeled as a clubhouse and this quaint building remained the home of the Club for nearly twenty years. In 1910, the Club decided to acquire a new site for the golf club and after a thorough search, the present site of the Club, on the banks of the Etobicoke River, was selected. The course was ready for play in the autumn of 1912 and the building of the new Clubhouse was completed in 1913. The stately Clubhouse, original to the property, still stands today."
